São Vicente is a ''concelho'' (municipality) of Cape Verde. It covers the whole island of São Vicente and the uninhabited island Santa Luzia. Its capital is the city Mindelo. The municipality consists of one ''freguesia'' (civil parish), Nossa Senhora da Luz, which also covers the whole island. The ''freguesia'' is subdivided into the following settlements: * Baía das Gatas * Lameirão * Mindelo * Ribeira de Calhau * Ribeira de Vinha * Salamansa * São Pedro == History == In older times it belonged to the older Municipality of Santo Antão, but by the beginning of the 20th century it was already a separated municipality.
